Mother’s Policy on Lending Money and Other Policies
The church recommends that Teaching Centers and Study Groups send the following church policies to its members annually.
Please be aware of them.
As Mother says, “Let the buyer beware,” and “A word to the wise should be sufficient.”
Mother had a long standing policy where she advised Keepers of the Flame not to lend or borrow money to or from other Keepers of the Flame. Keepers of the Flame have unwisely assumed that other Keepers of the Flame were automatically honest and trustworthy in their business dealings and personal practices. Unfortunately this is not always so.
When Keepers of the Flame lent or borrowed money to other Keepers of the Flame it was often not repaid. Some Keepers of the Flame have lost significant amounts of their funds in this way. In addition the situation caused ill will and inharmony among group members. It sometimes lead to division within groups.
This does not preclude Keepers of the Flame donating funds or giving gifts of charity to other Keepers of the Flame. But the individual should be guided by the direction of their Holy Christ Self.
In the past we have seen that Mother’s rule has been very wise and we remind you again of Mother’s wise guidelines to us. We suggest that once a year you remind your community of this rule and also share with them the Buyer Beware Announcement.
A word to the wise should be sufficient.
In the past several months, Church members have been calling or writing to us with concerns about many different situations. Some of their concerns overlap in a general way. Therefore, I am going to address these situations with a general policy statement.
As you may or may not know, the Church has at various times in the past issued statements on the subjects of: 1) people promoting pyramid schemes or business scams; 2) Keepers engaging other Keepers in their business practices or soliciting their investments in same; and, 3) people using Mother’s or the Church’s name to market or promote their products or services; 4) people using their church membership to legitimize (or leverage) their product or service.
Over the years, the Church has responded to dozens of inquiries on these matters, specifically in response to other church members inquiring as to the legitimacy of various ventures. Due to repeated involvement and problems among Keepers, the Church’s statement bears repeating annually. It is as follows:
Church members and affiliates should make their own decisions as to whether or not they want to become involved in any business opportunity-whether it is a network or multilevel marketing program, a business venture with another church member, investments in “get-rich-quick” schemes or as consumers of any product or service.
In order to ensure that people who come to Church properties for spiritual teachings and renewal are allowed to focus on the spiritual nature of the Church’s programs, the board of directors has instituted a policy whereby church members are not allowed to promote their personal business enterprises (including multilevel marketing activities), solicit investments or promote the sale of products, health treatments or services to other conferees, visitors and staff on Church property. In short, no persons should use any Church property, address or telephone number (including teaching centers and study groups) as a base for carrying out such activities.
This policy applies during all conferences, services and special events held on Church property or on any property that has been designated for Church-sponsored activities. Church property includes properties of all Teaching Centers and Study Groups (whether rented, leased or owned) as well as any location where the Church is sponsoring a conference, seminar, service or other special event.
Finally, we strongly recommend that individuals do not look to other Church members as “a ready market” of potential customers or patients to be recruited into their business venture. This always runs the risk of perverting the Ascended Master’s Teaching of “I am my brother’s keeper” to “My brothers are my keeper.” In addition, some members find such solicitations–especially during Church-sponsored events—to be offensive and not what they expect to encounter at a spiritual activity.
On the subject of people using the name of Mother, an Ascended Master or the Church to promote or market their services, including business, medical, psychological, or alternative health practices, the Church has in the past and continues to state the following:
As your spiritual leader and minister, Mother has stated that she does not have the knowledge nor the expertise to judge the merits of various business opportunities, medical or alternative health treatments, or products or services that Keepers of the Flame or others may recommend or use. Nor is it her role as the Messenger to evaluate or recommend the above.
Mother encourages people to thoroughly investigate claims, products and practitioners—irrespective of their church affiliation. In fact, she cautions you to beware of people who bandy about her name or the names of Ascended Masters, or who claim friendship or association with Mother, in order to validate or legitimatize their services or products. Simply put, Mother cautions all church members to heed the age-old adage, “Let the buyer beware.”
Therefore Mother does not give permission for her name to be used by individuals when promoting their products or services, whether they are in the healing field or involved in a business venture.
Mother must commend you to your Holy Christ Self for your own attunement and confirmation and to use common sense when you are making choices involving your finances, your health and other personal matters. If necessary, seek the advice of professionals as well.
Even though Mother and the Church offer these basic statements, the reality is that each one of you has free will. It is up to you to use your own discernment when it comes to all of your personal choices including those impacting your finances and your health.
Additionally, Mother would like to take this opportunity give you further teaching concerning personal visions and messages:
At this time I do not choose to authenticate your own personal visions and messages nor confirm or deny twin flames or soul mates. Again, you must rely on your own Holy Christ Self for inner confirmation. I would caution you to heed the advice of Saint Germain and to be silent when you are tempted to discuss your personal mystical experiences with others. Be like Mother Mary, who ‘kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.’
Through your diligent prayer, meditation, and application of the Word, you wait upon the Lord to reveal to you answers and solutions. You also should take advantage of professional counselors if you need further assistance. Just take the nearest right step to be constructive, to serve life and to love the Christ in all. It is in the process making your own personal decisions that you forge your Christhood day by day.
